2023 Ford Bronco Heritage Edition configurations

Chris Teague | Aug 14, 2022

Ford is still having trouble keeping pace with Bronco demand, and now, there's yet another unique variant to add to the pile. To further appeal to off-road enthusiasts, the 2023 Ford Bronco will be available with two new special editions that bring retro styling and unique colors: Heritage Edition and Heritage Limited Edition.

Though both packages focus more on appearance rather than boosting actual off-road performance, they bring a series of meaningful cosmetic upgrades. The new Bronco Heritage variants get a two-tone paint job, including Oxford White on the roof, grille, and unique badging, while Race Red "FORD" badging accentuates the white grille.

The 2023 Bronco Heritage Edition builds on Big Bend trim-level content. That includes a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder engine paired with a 7-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain delivers 300 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque and hits the ground through retro steel wheels and 35-inch Goodyear mud-terrain tires. Ford also equips the SUV with the available Sasquatch package, which brings upgraded suspension with Bilstein dampers.

Stepping up to the Bronco Heritage Limited Edition brings content from the Badlands trim, which includes a more powerful turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 engine. It's rated at 330 hp and 415 pound-feet of torque and comes paired exclusively with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Heritage Limited Edition variant also gets unique metal Bronco fender badging and leather/vinyl seats.

Neat retro-inspired steel wheels come standard for the Heritage Edition; the Heritage Limited comes with black-painted wheels. Ford offers five paint colors for the Heritage Edition, but the Heritage Limited Edition is only available in Robin's Egg Blue at launch. Ford intends to offer Yellowstone Metallic on the Heritage Limited Edition late in the 2023 model year, with Peak Blue joining the color palette for the 2024 model year.

Ford will limit production of the Bronco Heritage Limited Edition to 1,966 units to commemorate the year in which the original Bronco debuted. The Bronco Heritage Edition and Heritage Limited Edition will go on sale later this year. Current Bronco order holders currently awaiting their vehicle will take priority. Orders will open to all customers next year. Pricing for the 2023 Bronco Heritage Edition starts at $44,305; the Heritage Limited Edition starts at $66,895.

Despite ongoing inventory and supply chain shortages, Ford is determined to keep up its Bronco blitz. While 2023 may headlined by the Bronco Raptor, that's not the only variant of the Blue Oval's revived 4x4 nameplate that will debut for the new model year. Among the fresh faces is one that will be familiar to fans of the classic Bronco. Dubbed the Heritage Edition, it borrows heavily from the 1966 model, right down to the "Ford" script on the Bronco's Oxford White grille. The Bronco Sport gets in on the action too, albeit a bit less agressively, sharing throwback paint finishes [Robin's Egg Blue, anybody?] and the Heritage-exclusive Oxford white top. Both also come with unique interior elements, including serialized center console plaques.

BYRON HURD: Hey, everybody. It's a warm and sweaty morning here at Hollyoaks ORV park. I'm Byron. I got Broncos to the left of me and Broncos to the right. We are here with the new Heritage editions of the Bronco and Bronco Sport. So these are the big Broncos, as you can see.

And over to the right there, we got the Bronco Sports. Both of these have very similar packages. There are no real mechanical upgrades on these. These are strictly appearance packages, both inside and out. You get the slotted wheels, you get the side graphics. This is the only way you can get a contrasting white hardtop on these vehicles.

So just for that alone, it's actually a pretty good buy. On top of that, you can get them with either the Big Bend or the Badlands package, so they're going to come looking like they're off road ready. And man, look at these colors. Aren't they fantastic? Now I'll tell you what. This classic that we've got here is really my jam.

My grandmother had one of these first generation. She had a 1977, right before they discontinued the first gen. And it was in that same gorgeous baby blue color that you see on that Bronco Sport at the end of the line. So I'll tell you, even if you're not excited for these, I certainly am.

All right, so here are Big Broncos, the full sizers. So with these, see we have the Big Bend model here. You get the slotted Oxford white wheels. You're going to notice a trend. We have the Oxford white graphics package. You see the Bronco script there on the front fender.

We have the contrasting white roof. Again, this is exclusive to the Heritage editions for this particular release. And then the other contrasting element on these is the grilles. Now obviously the Ford script in the middle there is the big story here. But both of the Bronco Heritage editions borrow the grille from the black diamond.

Unlike the Bronco Sports, which will carry over the grille from their respective Big Bend and Badlands trims. This is the Heritage limited edition. This is a four door. This beautiful yellow, kind of a flatter mustard-y color. Looks gorgeous with this. You get the dog dish wheels, you get the inserts there against the Oxford white. Looking mighty fine.

Then here's an Interloper. This one's from a few decades ago, 1966. From Ford's heritage collection there, one we've driven a couple of times. Quite a treat. And now we're on to the Bronco Sports. So again, Big Bend and Badlands trims. This is the Badlands you're looking at in yellow.

It's the same finish as what's on the bigger Bronco. And you get some of the same elements, the white slotted wheels, the white top, and a nice little touch on the fender badging. The full Bronco Heritage look. And how beautiful is that powder blue? Absolutely pops in the light today.

This thing's absolutely gorgeous. So this is the Big Bend, this is the big boy. And these will be available with the options you can get on Big Bend and Badlands so you're not pigeonholed into just the Heritage Edition. It's essentially an appearance package both inside and out. And now that you've seen the outside, take a look at the interiors.

All right, so with the interiors, let's start with the standard Heritage edition. As we go in here, you'll notice that some of the elements carry over from the exterior. We've got the most obvious one, which is the Oxford white finish on the dash here. But there are a couple other elements that aren't quite so obvious.

If you look at the seats, the contrast stitching and plaid pattern in the seats both borrow Robin's egg blue, which is a nice powder blue color that's on the exterior of the Bronco Sport. It's the color used in the stitching on the sides of the seat bolsters, and it's also highlighted a little bit in the actual textured pattern here on the Navy Pier seats.

Get that same kind of look in the trim elements on the doors. And then of course, the exterior color is mirrored in the trim highlights on the inside. You can see them in the handle, in the-- I won't call this an insert in the door because it's not. It's actually the exterior body panel showing through.

But it's some nice little touches for the inside here. Now let's go over to the Heritage Limited and see what you get with the fancier one. So inside the heritage limited, it's the same general theme but the quality of the materials has been elevated a bit. We don't have the Robin's egg blue in the seats anymore, but we still get the Oxford white dash and the contrast elements.

And on this, we have race red even though the exterior is yellow. You'll also notice that there's no yellow showing through on the door panels because this is the fancier one. It needs a little more noise isolation. It's supposed to be a bit more comfortable. So there's no body panels showing on the interior of the doors.

Also on the seats, we have this leather, which is perforated. The plaid pattern has been re-imagined a bit because it's perforated leather instead of cloth. The Robin's egg blue is gone, but we have these nice race red accents in the stitching along the sides of the bolsters.

All right, now we're over here with the Bronco Sports. And before we get inside, I just want to point out that unlike the Big Bronco, we get slightly more exterior differentiation with the Bronco Sports. Bronco Sport actually gets two different grilles for the Heritage edition. The Heritage Limited, which is the yellow one here, is based on the Badlands while the standard Heritage edition, the Robin's egg blue car over here, gets the Big Bend grille.

Inside, they're going to be a little closer. It is a Bronco Sport. It's not as premium is the regular Bronco. But let's hop in and check them out. All right, so we're here inside the Heritage Limited edition Bronco Sport, and a lot of the same elements that were shown on the standard Bronco are visible here.

However, they've toned down some of them and emphasized a couple others. Again, since it's a limited, we have the nice perforated leather. And it does have contrast stitching on the side, though it's a bit subtle on this one because of the yellow exterior finish. Also, you'll notice that instead of a full width white dash, we just have this one little bit of contrasting plastic there in the center.

In fact, that might not even be unique to the Heritage Edition, but it is a nice little touch. All right, now let's check out this beautiful Robin's egg blue vehicle, see if there's anything inside that reflects this gorgeous exterior. And sure enough, Robin's egg blue it is. We've got the same Robin's egg blue pattern that we saw in the regular Bronco Heritage edition.

It's actually maybe even a little more exaggerated here in the Sport, just looking at it first hand. Got some contrast stitching here, you can see it in the center console lid and on the sides of the bolsters. Then the race red shows up yet again. And then the Robin's egg blue is here in the interior stitching.

It's a very nice touch. Get the white contrast in the dashboard yet again, and a little bit in the door panels too, just around the grab handle for the actual door handle. But an interesting interior, with a spectacular exterior. Looking forward to seeing these on the road.
