Who is the responsible person for conducting review meeting?
BackgroundNIH peer review meetings, also referred to as Scientific Review Groups (SRG), are conducted in accordance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA). FACA requires that review meetings be conducted in the presence of a Designated Federal Official (DFO), who ensures that the meeting is conducted in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policy. For SRG meetings, the DFO is referred to as the Scientific Review Officer (SRO). The NIH operates with a clear separation of function for Review and Program staff. The roles of the SRO and Program Officials (PO) are clearly distinct at the SRG meetings.
