Will the 2023 Nissan Rogue be redesigned?

The Nissan Rogue Sport, known as the Qashqai outside of the US, will be all-new for 2023. The Qashqai was unveiled on February 18 but Nissan has not yet provided a Rogue Sport premiere date. In any case, they're identical vehicles and a completely redesigned exterior and interior are expected.

A few teaser images have already been released showing new LED headlights linked to narrow daytime running lights that merge into the signature V-motion grille. It will also come equipped with a nine-inch infotainment display with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay compatibility. Drivers will have a separate 12.3-inch gauge cluster screen.

Power will come courtesy of a 1.3-liter turbocharged mild-hybrid with around 158 horsepower. A CVT gearbox is expected and all-wheel drive will be optional. A hybrid version is also in the pipeline.

2023 Nissan SUV Lineup Changes: Rogue and Pathfinder Updates, the Rogue Sport Is Retired, and Ariya EV Debuts

The Rogue Sport subcompact crossover is discontinued in the U.S. but the Ariya electric starts its run, as do special models of the Rogue and Pathfinder.

It looks like 2023 may be a transformational year for Nissan's SUV lineup. Leading the charge is the new Ariya, a compact electric SUV that aims more upscale than the affordable Leaf hatchback. Also new is a shadowy-themed Rogue Midnight Edition, and the Pathfinder three-row gets the Rock Creek treatment, which is a trim that adds a modicum of off-road capability.

Sadly, the Rogue Sport won't be joining in on the 2023 fun—it's been put out to pasture following the 2022 model year. Here's what's new and different with every 2023 Nissan SUV.

2023 Nissan Kicks: What’s New

Nissan's smallest SUV gets a second year of zero updates after a major reset for 2021 revised exterior styling and added a bunch of features. New for 2018, the first-generation subcompact crossover can't have too many years left, especially considering how competitive the class has become. We wouldn't be surprised to see a redesigned Kicks in the next year or two.

2023 Nissan Kicks Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Affordable
  • Spacious for segment
  • Good fuel economy

Cons

  • Underpowered
  • Unrefined powertrain
  • AWD not available

2023 Nissan Rogue: What’s New

Nissan has been producing Midnight Edition variants across its lineup since the 2013 Juke, and for the second time in its history the Rogue gets one. The 2023 Rogue Midnight Edition comes with the same standard accoutrements previous iterations of the dark-themed model sported—black badges, side mirror caps, roof rails, and grille. This time around, however, the compact SUV comes with blacked-out 18-inch wheels instead of 17s, as on the previous-generation version.

2023 Nissan Rogue Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Excellent safety scores
  • Powerful engine
  • Good fuel economy

Cons

  • Larger wheels compromise ride
  • Unusual front styling not for everyone

2023 Nissan Murano: What’s New

Looks like the third-generation Murano is hanging on for another model year, its ninth if you're keeping track. The 2023 version of the five-passenger midsize SUV is a carryover, too, after receiving more standard and optional equipment for 2022. We hope a refresh or redesign comes in the not-distant future.

2023 Nissan Murano Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Comfortable ride
  • Good passenger space
  • Decent fuel economy for a V-6

Cons

  • Old and dated
  • Not as much cargo space as competitors
  • Uninspiring dynamics

2023 Nissan Pathfinder: What’s New

One year after a redesign, Nissan introduces the Rock Creek model for the 2023 Pathfinder. Offered in AWD only, it features a 5/8-inch lift, all-terrain tires, a tubular roof rack, and a standard 360-degree-view camera system with off-road mode. Beyond the added capability, the SUV gets a distinctive grille and badges faux leather and fabric seats, and orange contrast stitching on the seats, steering wheel, instrument panel, center console, and door panels.

2023 Nissan Pathfinder Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Wide-opening rear doors
  • Plenty of cargo room
  • Finally looks like a proper SUV

Cons

  • Same bones as previous model
  • Turning radius feels enormous
  • Doesn't make much of an impression

2023 Nissan Ariya: What’s New

The new Ariya electric is the size of a Rogue but with the interior space of a Murano courtesy of its flat, low floor. It's the first Nissan on the new CMF-EV dedicated electric vehicle architecture, which will underpin future EVs for the Nissan, Renault, Mitsubishi, Infiniti, and Alpine brands globally over the next decade.

The electric SUV is offered in 238-hp single-motor FWD and dual-motor 389-hp AWD configurations, each with an 87-kWh battery. [A version with a 66-kWh battery pack is also expected later.] The entry-level 2023 Ariya FWD also gets a 130-kW DC fast charge rate, putting the charging time from zero to 100 percent at just over 40 minutes and zero to 80 percent charge at just over 32 minutes. Base models should deliver an estimated 304 miles of range and AWD versions about 265 miles of usable range.

Standard equipment on every 2023 Ariya includes powered front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, ambient cabin lighting, four USB charging ports, and Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay compatibility. Higher trims add a panoramic moonroof, a power liftgate, and wireless device charging. The highest AWD model boasts a hands-free liftgate, power-tilting and -telescoping steering wheel, cooling and memory for the front seats, and a Bose Premium audio system with 10 speakers. With a base price just a couple thousand dollars less than fifty grand, the Ariya is going for a more upscale buyer than EVs like the Leaf, Chevrolet Bolt EUV, or even Hyundai Kona Electric.

2023 Nissan Armada: What’s New

The mighty Armada just received a midcycle refresh for 2021, when it added new technology, updated styling, and introduced a special edition. Last year's version of the full-size three-row SUV gained one-touch power-folding third-row seats, and the 2023 model remains status quo. A future hybrid model could help the Armada widen its appeal.

2023 Nissan Armada Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Biggest, most spacious Nissan you can get
  • Comfortable ride
  • Powerful V-8

Cons

  • No fuel-efficient model
  • Feels top heavy around turns
  • Third row could be more spacious

Nissan Rogue Sport: Discontinued

Citing a prioritization of its core models, Nissan has elected to cease production of the U.S.-market Rogue Sport after the 2022 model. [However, the Qashqai model the Rogue Sport is based on will continue selling globally]. We lauded the junior Rogue for its spacious passenger areas, comfortable ride, and generous set of standard active safety features. But the Sport also had an unrefined, anemic powertrain and was pricey for its class.

Will there be a 2023 Nissan Rogue?

The 2023 Nissan Rogue is on sale now with a choice of four well-equipped grades – S, SV, SL and Platinum – with a starting Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price [MSRP]7 of $27,360. [See full pricing details for all 2023 Rogue grades.]

Is there a new Nissan Rogue coming out?

Nissan has said it will phase out the Rogue Sport after the 2022 model year, but we're not so convinced that the latest version of the Qashqai will skip the North American market entirely.

What is the difference between 2022 and the 2023 Nissan Rogue?

The 2022 Rogue added an all-new engine, but for 2023, the major change is the addition of the Midnight Edition Package for the mid-level SV trim. Higher trims also add Amazon Alexa connectivity.

Which new package has been added for 2023 Rogue?

This year, Rogue expands its already broad appeal with the addition of a Midnight Edition package on the popular SV model that includes 18-inch gloss black painted alloy wheels, black exterior accents with high-gloss V-motion grille, black badging and TailorFit™ leatherette seating.
