2023 Suzuki GSXR

Suzuki’s removal from WorldSBK and MotoGP has been quite the mouthful to swallow – and now, we’re seeing the repercussion of failure to comply to Euro5 regulations…this time, for the GSX-R1000.

As of 2023’s lineup, motorcycle communities hailing from Europe and the UK will no longer be able to purchase a new GSX-R1000. The brand’s decision to cut the iconic hooner follows the cut of Suzuki’s GSX-R600 and GSX-R750, leaving behind the R125 and Hayabusa on EU and UK markets.

Here in the US, we still have Suzuki’s gixxer line available…but for how long?

Emission restrictions are slowly trickling across the Atlantic and may eventually affect Suzuki’s America-bound bikes…though the Japanese manufacturer still has one potential ace up their sleeve.

Back in 2019, the brand filed patents for a variable-valve timing system [VVT]. Should Suzuki make the decision to prioritize production of VVT, we [and MotorcycleSports] think Suzuki’s bikes could show off better emission compliance, slowing the halt of the gixxer line’s retirement.

With Suzuki’s renewed sprint toward the world of sustainability, we anticipate a lot of change for the Japanese marque in the coming years.

Will there be a 2023 GSX

The 2023 GSX-R1000 arrives in a new Pearl Brilliant White and Metallic Matte Stellar Blue paint scheme with blue wheels or a new Metallic Matte Black No. 2 and Glass Sparkle Black scheme with yellow graphics on the fairing and black wheels.

Will there be a 2023 GSXR 750?

The 2023 GSX-R750 is available in new Pearl Brilliant White and Metallic Matte Stellar Blue, or Glass Sparkle Black and Glass Matte Mechanical Gray paint schemes. The GSX-R750's fuel-injected, 750cc, four-cylinder engine powers a balanced sportbike experience.

Will Suzuki update the GSX

Coming to the present, it's highly unlikely Suzuki will take the world by surprise and introduce an all-new GSX-R1000 by the end of 2022. Instead, chances are Suzuki will take its fair share of time and re-launch a heavily revised Gixxer, possibly in 2024 alongside the new emission norms.

Is Suzuki discontinuing GSX

While skeptics find that fact discouraging, Suzuki went out of its way to continue selling the GSX-R1000 in Europe. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean the top Gixxer is out of the woods. Suzuki recently confirmed that it will pull out of MotoGP and Endurance World Racing [EWC] by the end of the 2022 season.
