Remote Desktop corrupted

I have a desktop that we use for backup purposes only. It did have Server 2008 software on it but I removed that and installed Windows 10 version 1809. Everything works as before except I cannot use remote desktop to get into the computer. When I connect the screen stays black. I tried all solutions on the internet, especially the ones on here and nothing work. It does connect to the desktop but it errors out after about a minute. I have noticed, after all the problem solving I tried, that the remote keyboard and mouse on device manager have bad driver errors. I tried updating the drivers but all I get is "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing . [Code 39]". "The file or directory %hs is corrupt and unreadable. Please run Chkdsk utility". I did run the Chkdsk utility and that did not take care of the problem. Could the bad drivers be my problem or could there be something else wrong?

It is 10 Pro, right? Remote into a Desktop OS can get a little tricky, license-wise. This isn't a VM is it? Are you the only one accessing it?

Windows10 Pro is on all computers and it does this on all computers that remote into it. This is not a VM.

As this is a physical computer, check with the vendor's for the computer to get updated firmware and device drivers for those devices. Given you said you went from 2008 to Windows 10, the vendor may not have drivers blessed for Windows 10 but at least make sure you bring the computer up to the latest available.

I updated the drivers but the firmware may be another problem. I checked on the firmware yesterday and it was so old I do not think that would do any good.

McMurray Computer Experts is an IT service provider.

You ran CHKDSK with the /F [or /R] to actually fix errors?

You could go into Device Manager, show hidden devices, and remove those problem devices. Then restart the PC and try connecting again.

it was a clean install of Windows 10 right?

I ran CHKDSK /f to fix the errors and it reported as all errors fixed. I have removed those devices and restarted the computer and the minute I try to remote into the computer they come back.

It was a clean install of Windows 10.

McMurray Computer Experts is an IT service provider.

I would run chkdsk /f more than once to make sure all errors are fixed. Actually, if it finds errors more than once, I would run CHKDSK /R to scan the disk surface for errors. If that finds any errors, I would replace the drive.

Then I would run an SFC /SCANNOW to make sure the Windows files are intact.

I ran the CHKDSK command a couple of times through the command line and no change. I tried going through Explorer, C drive and properties and running check there also and it keeps saying drive error. I tried SFC and it gets to 9% and stops with the error "Windows Resource Protection Could Not Perform The Requested Operation" . So it sounds like a hard drive problem. So unless someone can come up with something else for me to try my next step will be to buy a new hard drive. Thanks for the help.

Just so everyone will know this was a Windows 10 update problem. Once I installed the new May 2019 update everything is working like it is suppose to.
