Các thì trong tiếng Anh được đánh giá là phần quan trọng nhất trong chương trình học lớp 9, và có ảnh hưởng mạnh tới chương trình học tiếng Anh cao hơn. Vì vậy việc nắm chắc kiến thức về các thì là rất cần thiết. Tuy nhiên khi đã rõ lý thuyết, chưa chắc việc vận dụng của bạn đã tốt. Thì hiện tại đơn dùng để miêu tả một chân lý, một thực sự hiển nhiên, hay là một thói quen, một hành vi xảy ra liên tục trong thời gian hiện tại . Cách dùng của thì hiện tại đơn : Diễn tả một thực sự hiển nhiên / Diễn tả một lịch trình, một thời khóa biểu / Diễn tả một thói quen, hành vi lặp đi lặp lại nhiều lần .
Dấu hiệu nhận ra thì hiện tại đơn : Trong câu sẽ thường có những trạng từ chỉ tần suất như : always, often, usually, sometimes, never, … Hoặc có chứa những từ như : every time, every day, every year, once a week, twice a year, … .
Lưu ý là với thì hiện tại đơn, cần thêm “es” sau các động từ tận có tận cùng là các chữ cái: O, s, x, ch, sh.
- Thì hiện tại tiếp nối [ Present progressive ]
Cách dùng của thì hiện tại tiếp nối : Diễn tả một hành vi đang diễn ra và lê dài đến hiện tại / Dùng để đề xuất, cảnh báo nhắc nhở, mệnh lệnh / Diễn tả một hành vi nào đó sắp xảy ra trong tương lai theo một kế hoạch định trước . Dấu hiệu phân biệt thì hiện tại tiếp nối : Trong câu thường có những từ như : at present, now, right now, at the moment, at, look ,. …
Ngoài ra, bạn cần chú ý quan tâm tránh dùng thì hiện tại tiếp nối đi cùng những động từ chỉ tri giác như : To be, see, understand, like, know, hear …
- Thì hiện tại hoàn thành xong [ Present perfect ] trong tiếng Anh .
Cách dùng của thì hiện tại hoàn thành xong : Nói về một hành vi xảy ra trong quá khứ, lê dài tới hiện tại và hoàn toàn có thể xảy ra trong tương lai / Nói về một hành vi nào đó xảy ra trong quá khứ những không xác lập được thời hạn và tập trung chuyên sâu hơn vào hiệu quả / Dùng để miêu tả những sự kiện đáng nhớ trong đời / Nói về kinh nghiệm tay nghề cho tới thời gian hiện tại .
Dấu hiệu phân biệt của thì hiện tại triển khai xong : Trong câu thường sử dụng một số ít từ như sau : already, not … yet, for, since, just, ever, never, recenthy, before … .
- Thì quá khứ đơn [ Past simple ]
Cách dùng của thì quá khứ đơn : Diễn tả một hành vi đã xảy ra và kết thúc trong quá khứ / Diễn tả hành vi xảy ra liên tục trong quá khứ / Diễn tả một thói quen nào đó trong quá khứ .
Các từ nhận ra thì quá khứ đơn : Trong câu sẽ thường Open những từ như : yesterday, ago, last night / last month / last week / last year, when, … .
- Thì quá khứ tiếp nối [ Past progressive ]
Cách dùng : Diễn tả hành vi xảy ra tại một thời gian trong quá khứ / Diễn tả 2 hành vi xảy ra đồng thời trong quá khứ / Diễn tả một hành vi đang xảy ra thì có một hành vi khác xen vào / Có trạng từ thời hạn trong quá khứ với thời gian xác lập .
Dấu hiệu phân biệt : Trong câu có từ “ When ” chỉ hành vi đang xảy ra có hành vi khác xen vào. Hoặc có những từ nhận ra như : While, where, when, at that very moment, at 10 : 00 last night, and this morning, … .
- Thì tương lai đơn [ Simple future ]
Cách sử dụng thì tương lai đơn : Diễn tả một dự tính xảy ra trong lúc nói / Diễn tả về một Dự kiến không có địa thế căn cứ / Dùng để nói tới một nhu yếu, đề xuất .

- Thì tương lai gần [ Near future ]
Cách dùng của thì tương lai gần: Diễn tả một kế hoạch, một dự định trong tương lai gần/ Diễn tả một dự đoán dựa trên bằng chứng, căn cứ.

In the early years of television, educational specialists believed that it would be very useful in teaching and learning. Many schools have bought television sets, intending to use them effectively to improve the quality of education; but actually, they are rarely used properly in classrooms. There are some explanations for the failure of television to get the interest of the teachers.
