Last summer, I discovered something that truly changed my life. It was so simple, yet also the perfect summation of everything that was missing from my wardrobe. It’s flattering, versatile, the perfect cut, comfortable, and most importantly, incredibly affordable.

So Jess, what the heck is it?! It is Target’s A New Day Ribbed Tank. The obsession started when I purchased just two tanks—but, by the end of summer, I owned six. I am telling you: that’s how good they are. Many of our editors also own them, and they all own more than one. You just have to trust us that once you put it on, you’ll never want to wear another tank again.

Although this tank is a summer wardrobe staple, I managed to continue to wear mine all through fall and winter by layering them with sweaters, cardigans, and jackets—proving that it is truly the most versatile piece in my closet.

Now fast forward to last week, and something appeared on my “For You” page on TikTok that made me audibly gasp. There it was, the famous Target tank, back and better than ever—not only in a ton of new solid colors, but also in TIE-DYE [!!!!]. I sent the TikTok to my coworkers faster than I could even say “pastel tie-dye.”

As if all of that wasn’t amazing enough, it also comes in sizes XS-4X, is available in 14 colors, and is currently on sale for $4. Yes, $4. Less than the price of a Grande Cold Brew. Stock up now before they sell out!

Clothing designer Melissa Lay thought that she had created a one-of-a-kind black tank top — until she started getting text messages from friends showing her one sold by Target that looked awfully familiar.

Lay is a stay-at-home mom from Milwaukie, Oregon, who sells T-shirts for adults and kids from her Sandilake Clothing line on her websiteand on Etsy. She claims that Target copied her design for a black tank top with an American flag logo and the popular hashtag #Merica on it.

Did Target steal mom's shirt design?

She went to a local Target and took a photo of her wearing her design while holding the one sold by Target, posting it on Instagram and writing that "they are identical."

The main differences between her shirt and the one at Target is that the flag is distressed on the Target tank top and a different quality of fabric is used. Lay sells her tank for $25, while Target is selling its shirt for $12.99.

Lay wrote that she contacted Target's corporate office and was told to write a letter with her complaint. She wrote in another Instagram post on Tuesday that she "wanted to bring this open to bring awareness, not necessarily to take legal action," and that she is still deciding her course of action.

Lay does not have a copyright on the image because of the cost, she told Portland's KATU news.

“I would have to spend thousands and thousands of dollars to fix this, and I still might lose,” Lay told KATU. “I don’t know what I’ll do.”

"Target has a deep appreciation for great design and it has always been our policy to respect the intellectual property rights of others,'' the company said in a statement to TODAY. "We are aware of this issue and are in the process of reaching out to the designer. We’re continuing to look into this matter and are in the process of removing the tee from our assortment."

Kyle Richards is no stranger to the finer things in life. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member has an Hermès Birkin bag that's customized just for her — and that's just for starters. [Have you seen her shoe collection? Or her gorgeous vacation homes?] But even if Kyle has champagne taste, she'll never shy away from a good bargain. Case in point: the flattering tank top she's been wearing everywhere this summer.

In a recent Instagram share, the Beverly Hills mama posed in a white tank top with matching jeans and a wide-brim hat. Wearing the satisfied grin of someone who just got a deal, Kyle wrote: "Legitimately, this is my FAVORITE tank [from [Target]!] I bought like 6 of them and I wear them ALL the time. So comfy and perfect with almost anything."

The exact name of Kyle's summer staple is the Women's Rib Tank Top, and it's from Target's in-house brand A New Day. The semi-fitted style is available in extended sizes, and comes in a range of colors including pink, tan, light purple, and green.
