Posted 07 January 2020 - 01:16 PM Although not specifically an anti-virus (see here) Malwarebytes for Windows Premium still supports older operating systems like Windows XP SP23, Vista SP1, and Windows 7/8/8.1. However, it has limitations as explanation by David H. Lipman and the anti-ransomware protection component is only available on Windows 7 or higher. The free version is strictly a stand-alone scanner that detects and removes malware when you run a scan...it does not provide real-time protection to prevent infection. . Posted 08 January 2020 - 04:47 AM I think Panda Dome (Free) still works under WinXP. It needs some .NET Framework updating first but it is doable. #8 quietman7quietman7

I can assure you that yes, Panda does run on XP. I had to install it on two XP computers a week ago for a customer. "A computer beat me in chess, but it was no match when it came

I will check Panda again - the machine which started a fresh install with very little else on it - has had that many differnt antivirus
installed by now (and the operating susyem reinstalled multiple times too) - and then the Antivirus has been removed after they locked the machine up, crashed it or just refused to start the service - with manual cleanup after the uninstalls (inc registry), that I think (yet) another completly clean install will be the fairest test for Panda as I cannot remember at what point I tried Panda. #12 daveydoomdaveydoom

Posted 08 February 2020 - 09:28 AM Running XP, do not depend an any AV to work for you. An AV/Firewall is intended to provide security for a system that is updated for latest protection. It cannot cover gaping security holes in the system itself. I suggest you depend heavily on making complete image backups, preferably weekly, for security. If you are infected, wipe the drive and reinstall from the latest image and you are back up and running in a few minutes.
