POLICY DESCRIPTION:
This policy specifies whether to prevent the mapping of client drives in a Remote Desktop Services session.
By default, an RD Session Host server maps client drives automatically upon connection. Mapped drives appear in the session folder tree in Windows Explorer or Computer in the format on . This setting overrides this behavior.
RDS: Do not allow clipboard redirection- The Policy Expert
POTENTIAL VULNERABILITY:
A user that’s connecting to a terminal server can choose which drives to redirect to the remote server, including mapped network drives.
There is danger in users that redirect local and mapped drives regardless of whether they need it. Those mapped drives may contain sensitive data.
If the status is set to Disabled, client drive redirection is always allowed. If the status is set to Not Configured, client drive redirection is not specified at the Group Policy level. However, an administrator can still disable the client drive redirection by using the Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration tool.

In this tutorial, you will learn how to disable drive redirection in Group Policy. This will restrain your users from accessing their local drives [C: for example]. In a Virtual Machine environment, your users won’t see their local machine while using V2 Cloud.
Using Microsoft Group Policy
In order to prevent local drives to be mapped from your Cloud Computer please follow the below steps.
STEP 1
Connect to Cloud Computer as Administrator and in the Windows start menu type run, then click Run below Apps category.
STEP 2
In the run window type gpedit.msc and hit enter in order to access the Local Group Policy Editor.
STEP 3
In the Local Group Policy Editor expand Administrative Templates, then Windows Components.
STEP 4
Expand Remote Desktop Services -> Remote Desktop Session Host -> Device and Resource Redirection.
STEP 5
In the right pane, double click “Do not allow drive redirection” policy, select Enabled and click Apply and OK to save the policy.
STEP 6
Finally, in the top left corner, click File and Exit.
Notes
– This policy will take effect for new sessions and it will be applied to everyone who accesses this server with RDP and V2 Cloud clients, to make sure policy applies please reboot your server, or open a command prompt and run gpudapte /force.
– This policy will block access to redirected USB and network drives.
– If you are required to apply this policy for non-administrators or specific users, it can be achieved only if the Cloud Computer is joined in Active Directory.
