Fuji 60mm f 2.4 review năm 2024

I want to add a macro to my XF native lens lineup. If I get the 60mm I will trade in my 50mm f/1.2 R. If I get the new 30mm f/2.8 I will trade in my 35mm f/2. I know the 60mm never got that much love, and people are raving about the 30mm but, there is a large price difference between the two on the used market, and for the most part, I only use the used market.

Any thoughts?

I have both. I like the 60mm better, beautiful OOF rendering. Yes, it's a fussy thing, if zippy autofocus is necessary for you, get the 30mm.

I am one of the few who own and love the 60/2.4 despite its quirks and oddities. I use it more as an all purpose short tele than as a macro. It is very sharp, with beautiful bokeh, and great, rich color rendition. But it’s autofocus speed is slower than newer lenses but serviceable for me in all contexts. It’s native lens hood is comical b/c of its large size. It’s macro reproduction ratio is 1:2, so technically for some it isn’t a "true macro." But 1:2 is enough for me.

If you want a true macro 1:1, there are better options. I’d consider third-party as well as the 30/2.8 and 80/2.8. The Laowa 60/2.8 (manual focus) gets good reviews. For macro work, autofocus is rarely useful anyway.

If you get serious about the 60/2.4, have a look at Fuji’s refurbished site for one.

I think you can set a focus limiter on some newer bodies, which should speed up portrait focusing significantly on the XF 60mm.

(I haven't tried this myself, just read about it)

The 60mm has serious problems with internal reflection's at its closest distances which are impossible to correct in post.

Be warned if you need to get very close... although it is not a problem at less extreme distances.

The "true macro" doesn't bother me that much. I think I will use it as a close-focusing tele, like you suggested.

Thanks, but I'm cold on Fuji's refirbished site. You can't return a lens for a refund for any reason, and you can only return it for exchange based on defects. Both KEH and MPB allow you to return a lens for any reason for a limited amount of time.

I love my 60mm but I would never trade my 50mm f/2 for it. The 60 is great in the garden and can be a lot of fun as a portrait type lens as well, but its quirky autofocus makes it frustrating, if not downright unreliable, in the street or for any kind of general shooting where you need to be able to take a shot and move on without disturbing the rhythm of what's going on around you. The 50's excellent close focus makes it a decent substitute garden lens, much better than the 60 is a substitute street and walkaround lens.

Luckily for me I have both and will keep both, switching between the two as the mood takes me. ( Both were secondhand, by the way-- one sourced from B&H, the other from KEH.)

(Note that I don't consider the 60mm a "real" macro lens the same way my Olympus 60mm f/2.8 is, or my Pentax 100mm f/2.8-- too short and not enough magnification, espcially for bugs and spiders. I would rather like a lens in that category for Fuji, but the 80mm has never appealed to me, being too big and too pricey. So I am sort of half waiting for an amusing third party solution. One that isn't also a tilt-shift, lol.)

The square metal hood for the 35mm f/1.4 fits the 60mm perfectly. Bought one second hand just for mine and have been very happy with the combination. The stock hood is rather a joke.

I will simply say that it is a fantastic portrait lens, with amazing bokeh quality and exceptional rendering. It's very light and compact on top of it.

I loved mine since day 1 and have no plans to replace it with something else.

I bought one when I first started out on my FujiFilm journey years ago, sold it and never looked back.

Until a couple of months ago that is when sorting out my catalogues using my new IMac and was astounded at the sharpness, rendering and lovely bokeh.

Bought one immediately, and have been delighted with it using an X-H2 which, from what I can remember, is so much faster focusing the 60mm than my X-Pro1 of years ago.

It is a delightful lens.

I had great frustrations with my 60 macro when using it on an X-E2 that I bought back in 2015. In fact I sold the lens some 5 years later because of it my frustration with the hunting issue.

About 18 months ago I decided to upgrade to an X-S10, specifically for IBIS, and bought another 60 macro. The difference is night and day, and I regularly use this lovely lens as a short telephoto, for portraits & street, as well as the occasional macro. I use single AF and find little or no hunting … I still have the X-E2, but use a 50 f2 on that body …

With the 60mm lens, you gain further distance from your subject to achieve the same magnification. Also impacts perspective.

I have regularly taken photos at min distance and not experienced any problems with internal reflections, but I do not shoot "upwards" when chasing butterflies and bumblebees.

If I have to have ONE lens only, this is a serious candidate for me.

But "running and gunning" type shooting is not its forte.

Compared to the 50 f2, I prefer the 60s rendering by quite the margin.
