Phụ nữ vì sinh đẻ và chăm con phải nghỉ việc ở nhà, quanh quẩn với bốn bức tường và đủ thứ việc không tên đã bí bách. Thêm chồng không tâm lý, không hiểu cho nỗi khổ của vợ thì còn chán chường gấp bội. Hẳn không ít chị em từng rơi vào cảnh bị chồng lẫn nhà chồng dằn vặt là "ăn bám". Chồng Oanh chưa tới mức quá đáng như vậy, nhưng mỗi lần cô bảo chồng đưa thêm tiền chi tiêu là thể nào anh cũng càu nhàu: "Em tiêu gì mà lắm thế, vừa mới đưa đã hết".
Oanh tâm sự, ai có con nhỏ mới biết, lắm thứ chi tiêu chứ không như người lớn. Nào thì sữa, bỉm, đồ dùng, đồ chơi, đồ ăn dặm, vitamin, thuốc men nếu ốm đau... Chưa nói ăn tiêu của 2 vợ chồng, điện nước, gas, mạng, đủ khoản mỗi tháng. Chồng cô lĩnh lương lại không đưa hết cho vợ một cục, chỉ đưa ít một hết mới đưa tiếp, thành ra cô liên tục phải hỏi tiền chồng, còn anh thì có "ảo giác" vợ tiêu hoang rồi đâm khó chịu, cáu bẳn.

Không thể để tình trạng này kéo dài, Oanh bảo rằng trong cơn bực mình cô hét lên “Anh thử đi mà tiêu” và sau đó Oanh đã nghĩ ra một cách đơn giản, khiến chồng cô phải suy nghĩ lại. Cô nhẹ nhàng nói với chồng thế này: "Từ giờ anh không cần đưa tiền cho em nữa, anh cứ giữ hết đi. Có gì cần mua em sẽ nhắn anh, tiện đường đi làm về anh mua luôn nhé, em đỡ phải cất công ra ngoài mua lại phải mang con theo". Chồng Oanh nhanh chóng đáp ứng.
Song thực tế lại chả như chồng cô mường tượng, mới được 20 ngày anh đã tiêu hết sạch tháng lương. Tháng tiếp theo, chồng cô đành gồng mình lên để tính toán sao cho đủ chi tiêu. Đồ cho con toàn thứ cần dùng, không thể cắt xén. Mấy khoản cố định trong nhà thì cần chi rồi. Riêng ăn uống của 2 vợ chồng đành co giãn, đứng giữa chợ căn ke các món sao cho vừa tiền khiến chồng Oanh như muốn nổ đầu. Tháng trước anh toàn mua đồ ăn theo sở thích, nên thành ra lương tháng bay vèo vèo.
Oanh cho hay, hết 2 tháng chồng cô đã nhận ra một điều. Rằng lương của anh chỉ đủ chi tiêu cả nhà ở mức khá căn ke, chứ tiêu hoang thì chắc nửa tháng đã hết nhẵn. Anh xấu hổ và áy náy vô cùng khi liên tục mắng mỏ vợ phung phí.
"Chồng mình xin lỗi và hứa từ giờ không bao giờ nhắc tới chuyện tiền nong nữa", Oanh bật cười thông báo kết quả. Song cô không nhượng bộ, mà tuyên bố: "Em chỉ biết ở nhà trông con thôi, em không biết tiêu pha đâu. Anh làm ra tiền sẽ biết quý trọng mồ hôi công sức của mình, để anh cầm chi tiêu là hợp lí".
Chồng Oanh nghe thế thì toát mồ hôi hột. Quả thực anh đã khiến vợ tổn thương vì sự vô tâm của mình. Sau đó anh chơi bài "chầy cối", lĩnh lương về là đưa hết cả cục bắt Oanh cầm. Đi đâu hay có việc gì cũng trình báo đàng hoàng và xin Oanh đưa tiền. Thấy chồng thái độ thành khẩn, lúc này Oanh mới đồng ý "tay hòm chìa khóa".
Thiết nghĩ, những người vợ ở nhà chăm con đang phải chịu sự ấm ức vì phải ngửa tay xin từng đồng từ chính chồng mình nên đổi vai với chồng một khoảng thời gian. Cho đàn ông ở nhà chăm con, làm việc nhà, tính toán chi tiêu, giúp họ thấu hiểu hơn sự khó xử, nhọc nhằn vợ họ đang trải qua.
